CAIES 2009 Inauguration Dinner

The 2009 CAIES inauguration dinner was held on 1/30/09 at Restaurant Peony, Oakland. The turn out was excellent!  We had a total of ten tables.  It was well received by our members and guests. The inauguration dinner was kicked off by Mr. Larry Lam, our past president.  Larry welcomed and introduced our important guests to our audients. This year we had invited the Alameda Supervisor, Alice Lai Baker, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chang of Oakland Lion Club, Dr. Zhu Weimin, the Deputy Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, and the press etc.

Larry also gave us a brief review of our discussion of our previous accomplishments, including year 2007 and 2008. There was a running slide show of our attendance in the world wide 2008 seismic conference in Beijing and our recent CAIES events.

Then, Joseph Leung, our trustee, introduced our new members and our past presidents of CAIES to our audients. This year we were highly honored to have the popular speakers, Ms. Joy Leo and Mr. Paul Tom, gave us a talk titled “Healthy Body and A Prosperous Mindset”. The talk was very concise and informative and was well received by our members and guests. We all had great time in the inauguration dinner.
